Mishel Pavlovski will spend the spring semester 2010 as a Junior Faculty Development Fellow—a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State—in FIU’s Department of Global & Sociocultural Studies in the School of International and Public Affairs. Dr. Pavlovski is a professor of graduate cultural studies in the Institute of Macedonian Literature at Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, Macedonia. He teaches Cultural Studies: Topics and Methods and Post-Colonial Theory.
Dr. Pavlovski holds two PhD degrees in Theory of Theatre, the first obtained at the Russian Academy of Theatrical Arts RATI-GIGIS in Moscow (1999) and the second at the Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje (2003). His fields of interest are cultural studies, post-colonial theory, theory of theater, and theory of literature.
Dr. Pavlovski has published numerous scholarly articles as well as the books Pure Play: Biomechanics in the Directing System of V. E. Meyerhold; Theatre in Macedonia (co-author); and Theatre and Myth. Dr. Pavlovski’s publication record has earned him the prestigious Mito Hadjivasilev-Jasmin (1999) and Goce Delchev (2003) awards.
While in residence at FIU, Dr. Pavolovski will focus his scholarly attention on post-colonial theory and issues of European cultural identity. His activities will cross disciplinary boundaries and programs in the humanities and social sciences.
