Funded under the European Commission's 7th Framework Program, it is a continuity of the current FP7 which will expire in 2013. The current Framework Programmes for Research and Technical Development (FP7) is coming to an end. The next framework programme, Horizon 2020, running from 2014 to 2020, will combine all research and innovation funding currently provided through FP7, the innovation related activities of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)
