Join experts from the University of Miami, Florida International University, the German Consulate, and the Miami community to discuss both countries'rise of populism.

What common factors are driving political polarization in both countries? How have politics changed since the election of Donald Trump and the emergence of the Alternative for Germany? How can civil discourse, protection of human rights & democratic consensus be strengthened in both countries?

Speakers include:

  • Dr. Jonathan Weiler (University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, author of Prius or Pickup:How the Answers to Four Simple Questions Explain America's Great Divide),
  • Dr. Joseph Uscinski (University of Miami, author of Conspiracy Theories and the People Who Believe Them),
  • German political scientist Dr. Roger Stoecker (University of Magdeburg),
  • Dr. Louise K. Davidson-Schmich (University of Miami, Department of Political Science)
  • Dr. Markus Thiel (Florida International University Department of Politics & International Relations).

The Roundtable will be followed by a Networking Reception featuring German music and refreshments. The event is free and open to the public
