Calling All Teachers….Free four-week online course offering on the European Union

Now that school is out for the students, it’s time for the teachers to continue their education. Check out the free four-week online course offering on the European Union. It is co-sponsored by the European Union, the U.S. Department of Education, the University of North Carolina’s EU Center of Excellence, and LEARN NC.

The course begins June 26, 2013, and will introduce teachers to the history, government, economics, and culture of the EU, while acquainting them with up-to-date digital resources and methods to stimulate student learning.

Since 1988, the EU has awarded grants through its EU Centers of Excellence (EUCE) program to major research universities around the U.S. to promote the understanding and study of the European Union—its history, government, economics, culture, and EU-U.S. relations. EUCE activities encompass teaching programs, scholarly research, and outreach activities directed toward a center’s local and regional communities.
