Ten high schools from Miami-Dade County have been selected by the Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence, FIU, for the 1st round of the local Euro-Challenge Competition 2009, which took place at FIU on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 .
- Barbara Goleman Senior High School - Coral Reef Senior High School - G. Holmes Braddock High School - International Studies Charter High School - John A. Ferguson Senior High School - Mater Academy Charter High School - Miami Central High School - Miami Palmetto Senior high School - South Miami Senior High School - Southwest Miami High School
Each team, made up of 3-5 students, presented the European country and challenge they chose in front of a panel of judges. At the end of the day, three teams were selected to go to the final in New-York on April 29:
