Commemorating Human Rights Day
What is Next for Cuba and the International Community?

Presentation by EU Parliament Member, Pavel Telička and Cuban Democratic Opposition Figures Rosa Maria-Payá, Pedro Fuentes-Cid and Orlando Gutierrez Thursday, December 8, 2016 | 6 PM | Coral Gables Museum | 285 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables

Join the Václav Havel Program for Human Rights and Diplomacy for an engaging presentation and dialogue focused on Human Rights, Cuba and the international community. Distinguished member of the European Parliament Pavel Telička, the Vice President of ALDE (the group of European liberals), will present the latest details concerning the new treaty between the EU and Cuba and the upcoming process of its ratification. Joining Mr. Telička will be three distinguished figures of Cuban democratic opposition, Rosa Maria-Payá, Pedro Fuentes-Cid and Orlando Gutierrez. Following the presentation and a conversation with the audience we will proudly screen the short film An Unfinished Dialogue Between Oswaldo Payá and Václav Havel (produced in 2016 by FIU in collaboration with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.)

It has been nearly 68 years since the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights was adopted; unfortunately the rights of many on the island of Cuba continue to be denied. We hope you will join us on December 8th.
