MFJMCE: Schuman Challenge Competition

The Schuman Challenge is an academic competition for undergraduate students from U.S. colleges and universities to engage in rigorous dialogue on transatlantic issues.

The Schuman Challenge will take place April 4-5, 2024, in Washington, D.C. The question: How can the EU and the U.S. more effectively engage the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region on areas of shared priorities and common interest?

The task:

1/ Provide an overview of the current state of EU-U.S. cooperation with the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.

2/ Propose a new initiative or policy in the EU-U.S.-LAC relationship by choosing one of the issues below and identifying a LAC country or countries to illustrate it.

  • Multilateralism
  • Global peace and security
  • Climate change and sustainable development
  • Trade and investment
  • Digital transition
  • Justice and security for citizens
  • Health resilience

► Three of our students have been selected by the Miami-Florida Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, and will participate in the Schuman Challenge Competition on April 4-5, 2024: Noah Alves, Piero Bozzo, and Lauren Delattibodier.
