Venue: | The Wolfsonian–FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach |
The Miami-Florida Jean Monnet Center of Excellence would like to share this upcoming event organized by The Wolfsonian-FIU and Villa Albertine.
The Wolfsonian plays host to Night of Ideas, an annual series on global issues by Villa Albertine (the French Institute for Culture and Education). Part of a nationwide initiative, Miami's edition will explore the power of art in shaping ideology, perception, and truth. Begin the evening with chief curator Silvia Barisione, who will lead an exhibition tour of The Big World: Alternative Landscapes in the Modern Era, before taking in "Art, Ideology, and Truth: From Aesthetic Control to Post-Truth Culture." Examining how artistic production in the U.S. and France has reinforced cultural norms, legitimized ideologies, and blurred fact with fiction, this panel discussion will consider the role of visual storytelling in today's era of media manipulation.
Coordinated worldwide by the Institut Français and presented with Villa Albertine and the Albertine Foundation thanks to the leadership support of the Judy & Peter Blum Kovler Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
