Blanka Rosenstiel Lecture Series on Poland: History of Poland in Time Magazine Covers

Poland has been at the center of many key historical events in the past century; among them the German invasion of Poland that started World War II, the years of Communist tyranny, Lech Walesa and liberation through the Solidarity movement, and the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. Dr. Mark Fountain II, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in North Carolina, has studied the occasions when Poland, in one way or another, has been featured on Time magazine’s cover, and he has compiled a fascinating visual timeline that tells the story of many of Poland’s different chapters.

In celebration of October being Poland's Heritage month, please join us for Dr. Fountain's slide presentation and discussion about Poland’s features on Time’s cover. Poland’s Ambassador to the United States, Piotr Wilczek, will offer opening comments. This webinar kicks off the 2020-2021 season of the Blanka Rosenstiel Lecture Series on Poland.
